“Across the Wells Marsh” looks from Mile Road across the quiet expanse of the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge toward Wells Beach. Marsh grasses, winding waterways and low coastal vegetation fill the foreground, while the familiar row of summer homes stretches across the distant shoreline. Billy’s Chowder House appears at the right, grounding the broad landscape in a place well known to generations of Wells visitors.
