Historic Thomaston Train Station
A Town Built on Time - Thomaston, Connecticut
Built in 1881, Thomaston Station stands as a reminder of the railroad era that helped connect this busy Naugatuck Valley manufacturing town with the wider region. Rail service was especially important to an industrial community whose identity became closely tied to the Seth Thomas Clock Company, established here earlier in the century. With its red-brick exterior, long covered platform and distinctive decorative wooden brackets, the station remains one of Thomaston's recognizable historic landmarks. Today, the beautifully preserved station is home to the Railroad Museum of New England and once again welcomes passengers aboard excursion trains traveling through the Naugatuck River Valley.
