Misty Island
Glimpses of Acadia
Along the Sundew Trail on Acadia's Schoodic Peninsula, a park bench at the edge of a quiet coastal inlet offered the inspiration for “Misty Island.” Facing the water, the view settled on a small rocky island crowned with evergreens, their dark silhouettes reflected in the still water below.
Mist and muted skies softened the distant shoreline, leaving the little island seemingly suspended between water and sky. It was one of those peaceful places along a trail that invites you to stop for a while—not because of a famous landmark or sweeping vista, but simply because someone placed a bench there and the view was worth sitting down to notice.
