The First Congregational Church, Litchfield, CT
Painting of the First Congregational Church located on the easterly end of the beautiful green in the center of downtown Litchfield, in the North West Hills of CT. This meeting house was built in 1829 in the Greek Revival style. It has a reputation as possibly the most photographed church in all of New England. In 1969, a New York Times article referred to the church as "one of the best examples of early 19th-century church architecture". The National Park Service has referred to the church as the "anchor" of the Litchfield Historic District. All who visit this beautiful old historic New England town, will be left with a wonderful impression of the streets lined with charming historic buildings, store fronts, war monuments and perhaps they'll also leave with a curiosity to learn more of this towns historic past.
