Along Park Loop Road
Glimpses of Acadia
Sometimes the inspiration for a painting is simply something along the way that makes me stop and look. “Along Park Loop Road” was inspired by a view near the beginning of the one-way section of Acadia National Park's Park Loop Road, near the beaver ponds.
An unusually shaped white birch first caught my attention, its pale trunk and spreading branches naturally framing the water and hills beyond. It was late September, and the undergrowth was just beginning to take on the muted golds, rusts and greens of early autumn.
It wasn't one of Acadia's famous landmarks or overlooks—just a beautiful combination of tree, water, distant hills and changing foliage that caught my eye along the road. One of those unexpected glimpses that makes you stop and remember a place.
